topshop wish list

I haven't done a Topshop wish list in awhile! I've been to the ones in the states, but none compare to London. London was magic. Le sigh. Even the online store doesn't seem to do it justice, but it will do. It looks like I've hopped on board the sequin train...

foodie fridays

You have gotta get your protein in, but sometimes it's easy to feel limited to meat and protein powder. Well, you're not limited! In fact, you can eat a delicious dessert that packs in 30 grams of protein.

Here is the recipe for my Strawberry Cheesecake Peanut Butter Protein Bowl. Crush up two graham crackers. Place in bottom of bowl. In separate bowl, mix together 1 cup of nonfat plain Greek yogurt, 1 tbsp sugar free cheesecake pudding mix, 1 tbsp sugar free strawberry jam, and chopped up strawberries. Mix well. Scoop on top of crushed graham crackers. Top with 1 tbsp peanut butter (I used White Chocolate Wonderful) and 1/8 cup of cashews. Enjoy!

I'm so happy with the progress my arms (and back) have made. I'm focused on getting stronger, not skinny.

I get so many questions about macros and how to calculate them. I just don't have time to answer every single one. Here is a video to inform you and hopefully point you in the right direction. Remember, you have to be proactive and research things for yourself. Open your mind and start learning. Look for information. Find things that work for you.

skull earrings


I have a new favorite pair of earrings thanks to Hearts. We all know how much I love skulls. It's a little ridiculous, but why not add to the collection. The little skulls are hand-carved and hang from a gold chain, with some pretty beads. I've received nothing but compliments when I wear them out.

I love everything I have ever gotten from this company, and I love what the company stands for. They strive to bring us eco-friendly fashion, and that is just fantastic. Win-Win!

role model

I definitely have people I look up to and gain inspiration from. It's not your typical celebrities or Victoria's Secret models. While they are beautiful, we can't all have customized (often crazy) diet plans and personal trainers. I look up to real people. A lot of whom are on Instagram. I will refer to them as my IIFYM girls! These girls who have a flexible diet and healthy attitudes toward food and bangin' bodies. What is IIFYM? I posted about it here.

While I gain a lot of insight from these girls, my top role model is myself. I am me. I am no one else. No one else can be me. I've fought hard to get where I am today. It's not just about the weight loss. It's the strength I've earned, and am still earning. It's the healing I've done, and am still doing. There is a whole bigger picture outside of appearance. It's been about finding confidence, reaching goals and making new ones, and creating a life I want, no matter what anyone says. It's been about finding healthy relationships and better ways to spend my time, after having damaging "love" interests, catty friendships, and too many nights of too many drinks. I think I just found my self-worth when I realized what I was capable of and being proud of who I am.

For those who think this is all just about appearances, it's not. It's about becoming who you want to be. For me, it's setting goals and having dreams and kicking my ass in the gym to see how far my body will take me. It's about eating foods that serve a nutritional purpose, but also enjoying treats too because balance is key. It's about being strong, not skinny or defined by a scale. It's about feeling confident. It's about competing only with myself. It's about blocking negativity out, and knowing who I am and what I stand for. It's about learning and being open-minded. I've counted calories. I've done "clean" eating. I'm currently and happily following IIFYM. No way is better or more superior. It's finding what works for you, physically AND mentally. It's about being you, and being your own inspiration.

foodie fridays


[Cooking Light]
I love pasta. So so much. I also love shrimp, cream sauce, and pine nuts. Combining the three would be heavenly. I very well may now that I have a delicious recipe from Cooking Light. Check it out!

Ingredients:
  • 8 ounces uncooked spaghetti
  • 12 ounces peeled medium shrimp
  • 2 tablespoons pine nuts
  • 1 cup 1% low-fat milk, divided
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/2 cup (2 ounces) grated fresh Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese
  • 1/3 cup finely chopped fresh basil
  • 1/4 cup torn fresh basil leaves 
Preparation:
  1. 1. Bring 4 quarts water to a boil in a large saucepan. Add pasta; cook 7 minutes. Add shrimp to pan; cook 3 minutes or until shrimp are done and pasta is al dente. Drain; keep warm.
  2. 2. While pasta cooks, heat a small nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add nuts to pan; cook 2 minutes or until lightly browned.
  3. 3. Combine 1/2 cup milk and flour in a large saucepan, stirring with a whisk until well blended. Place pan over medium heat; gradually stir in remaining 1/2 cup milk. Stir in mustard and nutmeg. Bring to a boil; reduce heat to medium-low, and cook 5 minutes or until mixture begins to thicken, stirring constantly. Stir in salt and pepper; cook 1 minute. Add drained pasta mixture, cheese, and chopped basil, tossing gently to combine. Sprinkle with nuts and torn basil.

Blessthefall (Boyfriend's band) just came out with their newest album yesterday. I'm so proud of him, and this CD is gold. Go get a copy!
2. Friendship
While the boys had their Fantasy Football draft, us girls got to play!
3. Sunflowers
Boyfriend surpised me with beautiful flowers and a card to celebrate our one year of living together. What a sweetheart!

metabolic damage

I talked about my recent journey with orthorexia here. I mentioned how it was very possible that I damaged my metabolism. I didn't even know that was possible until I came across Layne Norton, who has inspired me in so many ways. If you are slaving away on the cardio machines for hours and barely eating any calories, or if you simply want to know more about metabolic damage, I suggest you watch this..

start today

I can never quite wrap my head around the following phrases:
"I will start Monday."
"I'm doing this tomorrow."
"I'm going to do this soon."

What these have in common is the idea of later. Everything is put off until later. Until tomorrow. Until after the weekend. Really, what's the deal with putting all your determination and drive into "tomorrow." You'll just keep saying, tomorrow..tomorrow..tomorrow.

Aren't you fully capable of starting today? What's with the magical premise that a new day is when you can become a new you? Start now. Start today. Get your ass in the gym now. Get your diet in order for the meal your about to eat. Most likely if you wait until tomorrow, you will pig out on a box of cookies tonight. Or if you are going to start Monday, you will go balls-to-the-wall this weekend at bars and going out to eat. All while saying this is the last time before I start changing my life and body.

Stop making excuses for yourself. Stop procrastinating. You don't need a new day to begin changing.

I bring you a fluffer nutter sandwich! Take two pieces of bread (I use the 45 calorie wheat bread) and toast them. Spread on some marshmallow fluff and some peanut butter. You should seriously try Cookie Nookie by PB Crave. It's insane. Pour some syrup on top if you so choose. Enjoy!

1. Lukie Bear
My sweet nephew is in town with my sister, and it was so fun spending the day with them!
2. Lasagna
My mama made the most delicious lasagna bolognese. Oh my lanta. I ate it right up.
3. Dive bars
Boyfriend and I enjoyed a fun dinner, and then followed it up with pool at a dive bar by our house. Simple and fun!

Berries and beets. Two of my favorite things, especially when it comes to smoothies. Cooking Light has this delicious and easy recipe for one. Try it out!

1 cup fresh blueberries
1/2 cup fresh or frozen raspberries
1/3 cup sliced, cooked beets
1/4 cup nonfat Greek yogurt
1/4 cup fresh orange juice
1 teaspoon light agave nectar

Blend it all up with some ice and enjoy.

1. Reunion
Boyfriend finally came home last night, and I was so happy to see him. Being apart is hard, but seeing each other again is such an amazing feeling. It's like falling in love all over again.
2. Dessert
I am loving eating dessert every single night, and seeing results at the same time. IIFYM ruuules.
3. Hot Flow Yoga
I've been really enjoying going to yoga twice a week, especially when my mama goes. It's a great way to sweat out toxins and get some balance.
